Hi there – I’m Amanda! I’m a Health Educator & Advocate located on an 11 acre Farmstead in Gores Landing, Ontario. I am a science nerd, food aficionado, questioner and embracer of all things natural. I am on a mission to live an optimal life and would love for you to join me on my journey. Read My Health Journey to get to know me a little better!
What can you expect from Amanda Naturally?
The goal of Amanda Naturally is to provide a platform for you to streamline your health journey efforts! I have spent 10+ years immersed in nutrition research, and more recently all things natural health related. I want you to feel that Amanda Naturally is a trusted source for practical, evidence-based and fun tips, tricks, recipes and DIY projects. My ultimate purpose is to distill everything I have learned over the last decade, and am continuing to learn, into an easy to navigate, resource-dense platform that will expedite other individuals’ health journey.
What can you expect from me?
Honesty. Clarity. Understanding. Practicality. Balance.
Any recipes that I create or try from other sources will be free from gluten, cow dairy and refined sugar. As a result of focusing on nutrient dense foods, most recipes will be ancestral in nature, and therefore as minimally processed as possible. The main foods I use in my kitchen are vegetables (of course!), both green and starchy; grass-fed/pastured/organic meat and eggs; wild fish; healthy fat in the forms of coconut, olive, avocado, grass-fed tallow, pastured lard; nuts and seeds; and fruit. However, I will occasionally use gluten-free grains that I can tolerate (namely rice, & gluten-free flour) because I have dear friends and family members who are vegetarian. I strongly believe in balance and avoiding a dogmatic approach to anything!
All research will be thoroughly referenced. It really bothers me when people make claims that aren’t substantiated. That being said, it is important to take research with a grain of (sea)salt because most studies that are published are ones that support the hypothesis – which is often created with a pre-existing bias. Many studies are thrown out every year, and unfortunately if they aren’t published, they are completely discounted (check out this fabulous TED talk on Bad Science for more info). So I do believe that even gold standard studies have flaws and cannot always be relied upon to fully support an idea, argument or approach. You will find anecdotal evidence on Amanda Naturally as well – from well-established resources as well as my clinical and personal life!
Natural living posts will be as simple, holistic and environmentally friendly as possible! I strive to live a low-tox life and will share how I do this! From personal care products to home cleaners and from DIY projects to pregnancy & parenting – expect natural, traditional and sustainable resources & practices to be employed.
Above all, I hope to show you how taking a few small steps here and there will allow you to journey further than you ever imagined! When I started down my wellness path, I had no idea I would end up where I did. It took me years to get where I am and I am still learning! I hope to inspire you to achieve your own optimal wellness and to accelerate your journey by sharing what I have learned so far.
